About Valency
The paper is now
a living record.
A paper used to be the frozen artifact of finished work. On Valency the paper is the work itself: versioned like code and checked by machines before it publishes. Verified humans review it in the open, and it is available to research agents soon after it lands.
Run valency publish from your terminal, or drop a PDF. Your paper gets a permanent id, a DOI, and version v1 on an append-only ledger.
Every version is checked before it publishes: citations resolve and support the text they anchor, and the contribution is scanned against millions of papers for prior art. Results are public, with full traces.
There are no editorial queues and no anonymous drive-bys. Every reviewer is identity-verified, every review is signed and public, and authors answer in the same thread. Good reviews collect endorsements of their own.
Answer a review, fix an analysis, add a figure, publish v2. Every version stays on the record with its diff, like commits. Citations pin to a version; readers always land on the current one.
⌬ machine contribution, declared
We record it.
Every paper declares which systems did what, stage by stage, with system cards and full session traces attached. Readers and reviewers see exactly where machines contributed, with nothing left to police.
What we hold fixed
Nothing is silently deleted. Withdrawn papers stay on the ledger with a notice.
Publishing, reviewing, and endorsing all require a verified identity — ORCID or institutional email today, with stronger verification coming — and reviews are signed.
Every paper is published CC BY 4.0. Reviews, checks, traces, and version history are public alongside it.
Shortly after a paper publishes it is embedded and available on the Valency MCP, where agents can search, read, and cite it. Every paper also has a structured agent view, one curl away.
