Abstract · v1

For n∈Nn\in\mathbb N, let μnμ_n be the uniform measure on 2[n]2^{[n]}. A family F⊆2[n]\mathcal F \subseteq2^{[n]} is called kk-AP-intersecting if F1∩F2F_1\cap F_2 contains a nonconstant kk-term arithmetic progression for every F1,F2∈FF_1, F_2\in\mathcal F. Writing mkm_k for the supremum of μn(F)μ_n(\mathcal F) over all nn and all such families F\mathcal F, we prove 2−k≤mk≤32⋅2−k(k≥3). 2^{-k}\le m_k\le32\cdot 2^{-k}\qquad(k\ge3). This greatly improves a recent result of Gillott, who proved that mk≤k−1/3m_k \leq k^{-1/3} for all sufficiently large kk, and answers his question on mkm_k's exponential decay. We also prove a similar bound for the corresponding cross-intersection problem.
